Coventry Foodbank feeds more people than any other in country

A COVENTRY charity has fed more people in crisis than any other foodbank in the country, new statistics show.

Figures released yesterday by the Trussell Trust charity, which runs the nation’s network of foodbanks, reveal the Coventry Foodbank fed the most people in the country last year.

It supplied 12,513 beneficiaries with emergency food parcels, weighing a combined total of 86 tonnes.

Telegraph's organ donor campaign a "roaring success"

HUNDREDS of Coventry and Warwickshire people came forward to become organ donors thanks to a life-saving Telegraph campaign.

There was a rise of almost 40 per cent in the number of people signing up to the organ donor register during our Gift of Life campaign.

That equated to almost 1,400 life-savers joining the register during the campaign last May to October last year.

Dr Navin to get Queen birthday greeting after Telegraph campaign

A Coventry hero WILL get the royal recognition he deserves on his 100th birthday – after overwhelming support from Telegraph readers.

Buckingham Palace officials have now agreed to send Dr William Navin a personal letter from the Queen.

They originally refused to send the 99-year-old devoted royalist the customary 100th birthday “telegram” because he couldn’t prove he is British.

But after the Coventry Telegraph reported his plight, hundreds of readers pledged their support to honour Dr Navin
